Nancy Slater Natural Horsemanship
SERVICES OFFERED
Over the past several years, Nancy has worked hard to create a unique learning environment where she can share her love of natural horsemanship and central Florida with others. Set in the heart of Florida's Lake and Prairie Region, Nancy's facilities stretch westward from the eastern shores of Tiger Lake to an area of open dry prairie consisting of several thousand acres with trails for riding and exploring.
Nancy also has an arena with a 60' round pen and an extensive obstacle trail for you and your horse to challenge yourself and learn new skills. Her Cowboy Cabin, Cowboy Shed and Weekender allow students to stay on-site overnight to help create an immersive learning experience. If you have your own trailer or enjoy tent camping, Nancy has facilities for that too. For the horses, there are shaded pens available in the arena, or really pamper your horse by stabling them in the Yellowstone Corral, complete with lights, mats and fans.
Lessons & Coaching
Choose from either private or group lessons to rapidly advance your skills. Private lessons are one-on-one training with you and your horse, allowing you to get personalized coaching to help you get the most out of your relationship with your horse.
In semi-private lessons, Nancy works with a small group of clients, moving back and forth between them as they need help.
Boarding
Large shaded stalls in the arena provide a place for your horse to rest overnight or between training sessions. Boarding is available on a daily or weekly basis.
Want to really pamper your horse? Rent the luxurious Yellowstone Corral (shown above), furnished with four fans, rubber stall mats and lights.
Camping
If you have your own RV, tent or trailer LQ, you are invited to camp on-site!
Three electric sites are available for hookup; one also has a nearby water hookup available. Water is available through the Camp. In primitive sites, water hookups are available and you are invited to bring your own quiet generator.
The primitive camping area includes a fire ring, a wide hammock, picnic tables and seating. Enjoy a hot shower after your ride in the brand new bath house.
Horse Training
Bring your horse in for full foundation training or just a tune-up!
Nancy typically takes only one horse at a time, which allows for a high level of focused training with that horse.
Horses are accepted by the week for training. During this time, Nancy will also coach you how to maintain the progress she has made with your horse.
Fishing, Boating & Kayaking
Don't have a horse to work with? While away the hours by casting a line off of our dock or go for a paddle around the lake. Bring your own boat and put in at Nancy' boat ramp for a day on the water.
Don't like the water? Watch the local wildlife -- look for bald eagles, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and a variety of wading birds and songbirds. Go for a hike or drive to nearby Lake Wales for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Visit Bok Tower Gardens or learn about 1876-era Florida cowboys at Lake Kissimmee State Park's "Cow Camp".
Obstacle Trail
Test the abilities of both yourself and your horse on the Cowboy Camp Obstacle Trail. The Trail offers dozens of obstacle challenges for you to work out issues before you encounter them in the wild.
Each obstacle ranges in difficulty from novice to advanced and can be done in multiple ways for virtually endless possibilities.
