Anything is possible when the horse sees you as his leader, friend, and protector. Using techniques employed by great horsemen throughout time, a partnership between you and your horse is formed. Nancy teaches how to get inside your horse's mind, causing him to WANT to be with you and giving you his best out of heart and desire! Adding to those tools is an incredible facility complete with riding trails, an arena and round pen, and her one-of-a-kind, personally designed Cowboy Camp Obstacle Trail Park -- all located in beautiful central Florida just minutes from downtown Lake Wales.

Nancy Slater offers a range of teaching options including private and group lessons, video coaching, and on-site clinics and workshops. Choose what works for your learning style and where you are in your horsemanship journey!
You can also send your horse to Nancy for training. However, her results will only continue to be effective if you are able to reinforce it! So her weekly horse training services include one-on-one coaching so that you can also learn what your horse has learned.

Explore thousands of acres of Florida wilderness on horseback, on foot or by boat
Nancy Slater's Cowboy Camp is nestled among 100-yr old oaks in the heart of lake country. Miles of trails wind through thousands of acres of pristine Florida scrub, wet prairie and saw palmetto flats. Experienced riders can cool off with their horses in the swimming hole or ride through historic cattle ranches to the shores of nearby Lake Kissimmee!
Don't have a horse to work with? Try your hand at fishing by casting a line off of our dock or go for a paddle around the lake. Bring your own boat and put in at the boat ramp for a day on the water.
Don't like the water? Watch the local wildlife -- look for bald eagles, wild turkey, the elusive resident coachwhip, white-tailed deer, and a variety of wading birds. Go for a hike or drive to nearby Lake Wales for shopping and sightseeing. Visit Bok Tower Gardens, catch a rodeo at Westgate River Ranch Resort, or learn about 1876-era Florida cowboys at Lake Kissimmee State Park's "Cow Camp". The options are almost endless!
OBSTACLE PARK
Try your hand at one of nearly 100 obstacles in our Cowboy Camp Obstacle Trail Park
Open from 9 am to sunset daily, Nancy Slater's Natural Horsemanship Cowboy Camp and Obstacle Park offers a great learning environment! Expose your horse to all kinds of obstacles and find out exactly where the "holes" in their training are.
Challenge yourself to think outside the box and try to use each obstacle in different ways. The idea is to foster understanding, calmness and connectedness in your horse as you take your time breaking it down into steps they can understand at a relaxed pace they can handle.
OVERNIGHT STAYS

Maximize your training time by staying in one of our many options for overnight lodging. Bring your own trailer or RV to use one of three hookups, or stay in Nancy's trailer, The Weekender. The Weekender is furnished with a queen-sized mattress, a mini-frig and coffeepot, a full-length mirror and cold AC, just steps away from the bathhouse, and the Yellowstone Corral.
Other options include the 3-bedroom Cowboy Cabin and the 1-room Cowboy Shed. The Cowboy Cabin is equipped with a full kitchen, laundry, screened porch and cold AC and sleeps up to 8 adults comfortably. The Cowboy Shed is equipped with a twin bed (sleeps 1), a mini-frig and a coffee maker, and of course AC. You can also camp in your own tent if you like!
Lodging for your horses includes your choice of shaded sandy paddocks in the arena, shaded corral panels closer to the Cowboy Cabin and The Weekender, or our luxury Yellowstone stall which includes a roof, lights and fans.
